When a warning light appears, your vehicle will not start, or an electrical problem keeps returning, guessing can become expensive. JD Lube & Shine provides mobile car diagnostics in Toronto and Scarborough to identify the likely cause before parts are replaced.
Our technician travels in a fully equipped 16ft box truck and performs eligible diagnostic testing at your home, workplace, fleet yard, or another safe service location. Learn more about our mobile service across Toronto and the GTA.
Problems We Can Diagnose
Mobile diagnostic service may be suitable for:
- Check-engine lights and other dashboard warnings
- No-start and intermittent starting problems
- Battery, starter, and charging-system concerns
- Electrical faults, blown fuses, and power-loss symptoms
- Rough running, stalling, misfires, and reduced power
- Brake, ABS, traction-control, and tire-pressure warnings
- Unusual noises, smells, leaks, or drivability concerns
- Pre-repair fault isolation for cars, vans, and light commercial vehicles
Availability depends on the vehicle, symptoms, location, and the testing equipment required.
A Trouble Code Is Not a Complete Diagnosis
A scan tool can retrieve a diagnostic trouble code, but the code does not always identify the failed part. It tells the technician which system detected a problem. Proper diagnosis may also require visual inspection, electrical testing, live-data review, and confirmation of the vehicle’s symptoms.
Replacing a component based only on a code can waste money and leave the original problem unresolved. Our goal is to narrow down the cause and explain the recommended next step.
No-Start and No-Crank Diagnosis
If the engine does not crank, cranks slowly, or cranks but will not start, the cause may involve the battery, starter, alternator, wiring, fuel delivery, ignition, security system, sensors, or another component.
When you request service, tell us whether the dashboard lights turn on, whether you hear clicking, and whether the engine cranks. This information helps us arrive prepared. Drivers in the east end can also review our mobile mechanic service in Scarborough.
Check-Engine-Light Diagnosis
A steady check-engine light usually means the vehicle has stored a fault that should be inspected. A flashing check-engine light may indicate an active misfire that can damage the catalytic converter. If the light is flashing, the engine is shaking, or the vehicle has lost substantial power, stop driving when it is safe to do so and call for guidance.
Diagnostic testing may include retrieving stored and pending codes, reviewing freeze-frame and live data, inspecting related components, and performing basic electrical or mechanical tests where appropriate.
What the Appointment May Include
- Discussion of the symptoms and recent repair history
- Visual inspection of accessible systems and components
- Battery and charging-system checks when relevant
- Computer scan for available modules and trouble codes
- Live-data review and basic circuit testing when required
- Initial fault isolation and recommended next steps
Some faults are intermittent or require manufacturer-level programming, a hoist, smoke testing, extensive disassembly, or other shop equipment. If on-site diagnosis cannot safely confirm the cause, we will explain the appropriate next step.
Suitable Service Location
The vehicle should be parked in a safe, accessible, and reasonably level area with enough room for the technician to work. Condo garages, commercial properties, and roadside locations may have restrictions. If the vehicle is in active traffic, has severe steering or brake problems, is leaking fuel, or is otherwise unsafe, towing may be the better choice. Read our guide on choosing a mobile mechanic or tow truck.
