Signs Your Brakes Need Inspection
- Squealing, scraping or grinding
- Vibration or pulsation while braking
- Longer stopping distance
- The vehicle pulling while braking
- A soft, spongy or sinking brake pedal
- Brake or ABS warning lights
- Brake-fluid leakage
- A burning smell near a wheel
- One wheel becoming unusually hot
- Uneven brake-pad or rotor wear
A noise does not always confirm that brake pads are worn out. Rust, debris, loose hardware, caliper problems and rotor condition can produce similar symptoms. The system should be inspected before parts are recommended.
What Our Brake Inspection Covers
- Remaining pad material
- Rotor wear, scoring and corrosion
- Caliper and slide movement
- Brake-hose condition
- Visible fluid leakage
- Brake-fluid level
- Warning lights and stored fault codes
- Abnormal wheel heat or drag
- Pedal feel
- Braking behaviour during a safe road test when appropriate
Inspection findings determine whether an on-site repair is safe and practical.
When You Should Stop Driving
Do not continue driving if the vehicle cannot stop predictably, the pedal travels close to the floor, brake fluid is leaking, a wheel is smoking, severe grinding is present or the red brake warning remains illuminated.
Park safely and arrange an inspection or towing. Continuing to drive may increase damage and create a serious safety risk.
Mobile Brake Repair Limitations
Some repairs require a shop, hoist, fabrication equipment or extensive hydraulic-system work. Severe corrosion, seized components, damaged brake lines, ABS hydraulic faults and unsafe working locations may prevent an on-site repair.
We will explain the inspection findings and recommended next step before proceeding.
Brake Service for GTA Fleets
JD Lube & Shine provides scheduled brake inspections and eligible repairs for business vehicles and commercial fleets. On-site service can reduce vehicle movement and help identify brake concerns before they create additional downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can brake pads and rotors be replaced at my location?
Yes, on many vehicles, provided the vehicle is parked on a firm, level and accessible surface and the repair does not require equipment unavailable on-site.
Do brake pads always require new rotors?
Not always. Rotor thickness, wear, corrosion, heat damage and surface condition must be inspected before making that decision.
Why do my new brakes squeal?
Possible causes include surface contamination, rust, hardware movement, improper lubrication, pad material, installation concerns or uneven rotor contact. An inspection is required to identify the cause.
Can you diagnose an ABS warning light?
Yes. We can scan the system and perform eligible preliminary testing. An ABS light may be related to a wheel-speed sensor, wiring, bearing, tone ring, module or hydraulic-system concern. Learn more about our mobile diagnostic service.
How do I receive a brake-service quote?
Provide the vehicle year, make, model, VIN, service location and symptoms. Photographs of the wheels or visible damage may also help with preparation.
